San Diego Comic-Con International, held annually in San Diego, California since 1970, is a comic book convention and nonprofit multi-genre entertainment extravaganza. What started as a showcase for comic books and science fiction/fantasy films and television has evolved into a sprawling celebration of pop culture, encompassing horror, Western animation, anime, manga, toys, collectible card games, video games, webcomics, and fantasy novels. By 2010, the convention began filling the San Diego Convention Center to its 130,000-person capacity every year. Beyond drawing enormous crowds, Comic-Con holds several Guinness World Records, including the title of the largest annual comic and pop culture festival in the world.
